About us

Groupe Lebel

Groupe Lebel’s history began in 1956 when Deniso Lebel acquired his first sawmill in Saint-Michel-du-Squatec, in the Témiscouata region of Québec. This was the start of a long adventure featuring several acquisitions and construction projects. Since 2004, Louis-Frédéric Lebel has managed the family business from its head office in Rivière-du-Loup, adopting a flexible management style that has allowed him to meet many economic challenges.

As one of Eastern Canada’s leading lumber manufacturers, Groupe Lebel is a vertically integrated company, from cutting trees to the distribution of finished products.

Sawmills are where Groupe Lebel started and remain its primary focus. This company alone owns ten sawmills producing nearly 670 million board feet annually. The main species processed are fir, spruce and jack pine. Green or dry production is distributed on the U.S. and Canadian markets.

Treated wood plays a major role in the company, thanks to its three treatment plants with annual production capacity of 120 million board feet.

Value-added products are manufactured in five of our plants.  We offer a full product line: siding and cladding, I-Joists, snow fences, picnic tables, and more.

Groupe Lebel is one of the leading forest producers in Eastern Canada.  Today the Company employs nearly 1000 people in fifteen municipalities in Québec, two in Ontario and one in United States.
